i am replacing alot of steering parts just wondering what the toe adjustment should be. i thought maybe 1/8 inch toe in but i am not sure i want this to drive good in road gear

Hi,
One quarter inch is too much. The correct setting from MF is 1/8" If you are fitting new ball joints etc you should be able to achieve this.

Models F40-MH50-MF50 Tie rod ends are of the non adjustable, automobile type. Recommended toe-in of 0-1/4inch is adjusted by varying the length of the right hand tie rod. Quoted out of I&T shop manual.

It is important to remember that toe in is there to compensate for spring in the steering and flex in the tires due to rolling resistance.

The intent is that the wheels will be parallel when running. The tighter the steering, the less toe in is needed. You can compensate sum for loose steering with a little extra toe in.
