I am working on restoring a Massey 175. I know MF has 2 types of grays- the dark gray and then the lighter silver mist. Its hard to tell which is which on my tractor, the paint is very far gone, and it all looks the same dark, dirty gray. I have been looking up pictures to try and tell which color is used where.

This is one of the better pictures.

I am specifically repainting the fuel system components- fuel lines, filter housings, etc. It looks like silver mist.

If anyone had experience with the colors let me know.
Thanks

The MF 100 series looks great when repainted correctly like new, put the paint shop will have MANY hours in doing it right. Tractor has FIVE colors, red on hood and fenders, FLINT METTALIC GRAY on chassis, battery cover and left/right battery side covers, SILVER MIST/DULL BLACK on the grill, and aluminum on rear power set wheels.

The red color is in the correct places, the flint grey, and silver mist as indicted in the picture.

Silver mist was not on the rear wheels, only on the front grill. The battery side panels I've seen done in all red, and red/flint gray. Some years front wheels were all red, or two tone. Had a neighbor repaint a friends MF 180, when he was done he said never again at the price he quoted! Painter was used to painting only two color tractors.

The way I described in the picture was exactly the way my brothers 150 was painted originally. He bought the 150 (1965 year model) in 1975 from a dealer that took it on a trade in from the original owner. The first thing my brother did to the 150 when he bought is repaint it exactly like it was, it had not been repainted before my brother got it.

In the end how much does it really matter how original it's painted, it's not like it's going to hurt it's value. I painted my 135 very similar to my brothers 150 was painted because I liked the way it looked with the silver mist wheels with the red centers.

steve19438, Commercial Farmer, nice looking tractors!!! 21hunter, the bronze/gray looking color was probably a old Ferguson color. As long as no one paints a MF to look like a John Deere, a Ford/New Holland, a Fendt, or any other brand of tractor!!! I seen a 135 painted Blue, and White whoever did that should be arrested!!
