I have a 165 diesel that will not crank. Battery is good.
Last fall it was ran and didn’t have any trouble starting. Now it won’t do anything. I replaced the starter and still no crank. I have never had any trouble at all out of this tractor.
Wiring is intact.
Any help is appreciated

This tractor has not been started since last fall, correct?

What testing have you done?

What confirms the battery is good?

Have you cleaned both ends of both battery cables and the points where they attach?

Have you wiggled the HI-start-LO lever back and forth a bit in the start area while holding the start switch engaged to see if the Neutral switch might be out of adjustment?

With the tractor in neutral, if you use a jumper wire to put battery power to the start terminal on the solenoid will the starter crank?

Is there Power at the ignition/start switch?

Is there power to the solenoid start terminal when you try to start it with the key/button?

If not, have you bypassed the neutral start switch and tried it to see if the starter cranks?

Those are somethings to check and report back on.

Make sure the high/low shifter is in neutral. Check for voltage at the starter post. Place the main transmission in neutral and short the starter posts.

I have not had a chance to check your suggestions yet, however, to answer one question. I was able to run the tractor by pulling it off last month. Up to the time I parked it, I did not have any trouble at all with it starting.
I will try your other suggestions later this week.
