I have a 1988 40E with FEL and power shuttle transmission. Have had it about three years. Within the last year it has developed a feature wherein the transmission engages perfectly in the reverse direction, but only for a small range of ...pedal positions. With a very light push of the forward pedal, I can move a mountain albeit very slowly. If I push the pedal farther, it will disengage. When it disengage s, it if REALLY disengages. Happened once while I was loading it onto a trailer...and it rolled backward substantially before getting the brakes. Neither I nor the tractor was hurt...but my life did clash before me for a few seconds.
I was wondering if anyone has had similar problems...and what the underlying cause proved to be. I know what it is going to cost me if I have to have the loader removed and the tractor split.
I'm holding onto the hope that there might be something in the control mechanism that is easier to repair. Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance.
