MF65 Dash Light

I got my hands on a MF65 this last year and used it to do some work and have it in the garage to do some wiring replacement currently. Since when I got it none of the gauges, nor lights worked.

How is the dash light bulb supposed to be replaced? It's tough to understand what is going on there because it's got a lifetime of wear and rust on it. Is that a cap the screws off or does it just pull off? I don't really need it, would just like to understand how it is supposed to work.

Welcome to the forums.

If it is the original dash light I believe the cover hood over the bulb pulls off. It might take a slight twist one way or the other if you see a dimple near the base of the hood. I expect it may be rusted in place.

You should find and acquire Operator's and service/shop manuals for your MF65. You can use the online parts book at the AGCO.com site, if you don't want to buy one of those. Here is a link.

MF65 parts book.

I have the shop manuals for it, which I'm using for the wiring diagrams. They don't really cover that piece though. I put some penetrating oil on it yesterday so maybe I can work it off of there this evening.

Not surprising it is not covered. The shop manuals don't cover everything. You have to remember they were written for dealer service people, not DIY. And back in the day that type of light assembly was a common thing, and the manual writer likely figured every mechanic knows about them, no need to write about it. A cross check to the parts book can give you an idea of the pieces that were serviced in an assembly such as this light.

Work it gently back and forth, it may come out (or you may find it does screw out of the base).

Look on page 156 of the parts book link above. You will need part # 22 and 23 in the illustration if available. you can take the part numbers and do a search. Part illustration #21 is the assembly. If not available on your search, might try Nolts, in Pennsylvania. They deal in used MF parts.
