MF670 Fuel issues

Do any of you know off hand if there are additional fuel filters besides the main one?

Each year I drain the tank and replace the fuel filter and have had no issues to date.

Two days ago I had the tractor die on the side of the road and I assumed the fuel froze. I towed it to the shop and drained the tank dry again. Replaced the filter, refilled the tank and carried on. 20 mins later it dies again.

This makes me think that there are other filters in the system I am not aware of. I only burn 1 1/2 tanks of fuel a year and buy the fuel from a high traffic fuel station.

Have you the original fuel cap on that allows the tank to vent?
Sounds like the tank is vacuuming as there are no other filters on
this model. Or maybe you got the modern diesel that grows a
bacteria which gels if not used enough?

I still have the original fuel cap, but it is something I can easily check.

Is there a filter or screen where the fuel line enters the pump? What about the hand pump, any screen in there?

The tractor is such a bugger to bleed that I don't want to blindly open the fuel system.

Most Perkins have a constant air bleed orifice fitting on top of the filter base the is tied into the injector return. Is used to prevent any excess air from getting to the injection pump, causing shutdown. Make sure the orifice is open, have made service calls to find it plugged. Not sure if yours is plumbed this way, but worth a look.

Sorry for the delay in replying....Yes there is a screen filter in the
primer pump, simply remove the top of the pump and lift it out and
wash it. Some pumps have a filter in one of the fittings as the diesel
enters the main injection pump.

Tks Sam! I pulled the top of the pump off and found this! I cleaned if out, checked the lines for more dirt and fired it up (it died on the road again today)

I was able to blow snow for two hrs trouble free and finally work the bugs out if my front mount blower.
