I think the combines had chrysler engines and the 44-6 uses a continental engine. a 101 senior and the 44-6 should be the same, a 226 cubic inch continental
 
The 44-6 uses the Continental F226 flat 6. Uncertain about the combine engine however.

A quick engine spotting feature is the location of the distributor: The Continental has it sticking straight up atop the head between the #4 and #5 spark plugs. The Chrysler's distributor is perched at angle on the left side of the block.
