MH55 engine color update.

Went out today in the minus 26 degree celcius weather to shovel snow off the walk and drive pad and to check the 55 Massey tractor. There is red paint under the bronze or copper colored paint on the the engine. Not sure the thought process in painting it bronze color when its not supposed to be but whatever. Eventually it will be red again.

I heard someplace that once there was a car with options; one was a chrome plated dash, one a painted dash. Come to find that it was cheaper to chrome plate everything, then paint the ones that didnt' want the expensive option. Don't know if that was true.

Maybe a dealer painted it like the newer ones. Quite a few different color tractors seem to gotten that paint job.

MH Nut,

55's never had a gold or bronze engine. The 47's, 48's and early 49's had black engines.

Yes. I found out through thr YT forum that the 555 444 etc had the bronze engine color. This 1953 55 has red paint under the bronze and my 1946 55 is a red engine as well. Thanks for now.
