Thanks so much for your replies. I'll do some research in those places. What did we do before the internet!!!!!! I had a lot of help a couple years ago on a IH. Going to get down in the teens tonight in Mo.

You're welcome. I agree I wish the internet & YT had been available back in the mid 70-s-mid 80's when I served as a JD dealer service manager. This forum(YT) is chocked full of very valuable. information

The archives here seem very hard to get to work ? maybe you have to be in modern view ?
Send me an email and I can try and forward you the link to a service manual I got from someone on here.

Jim I posted another problem with the 5105jd diesel, but I think it got lost in space somewhere!!!!! When I'm using my tractor and the fuel tank gets to about half full it shuts down and I fill it back up and prime it and starts and runs good till half full. I believe the fuel gage is working properly, shows full when filled and quits at half full. Have you heard of any problems like that with the 5105 diesel.

Sounds typical for clogged fuel exit on tank or possibly tank not venting creating a vacuum inside of tank. Try operating engine with a shop towel covering fuel tank filler neck instead of fuel cap. Also remove hose from bottom of fuel tank to check for good fuel flow.

If your on hills it maybe can't suck the fuel because there is not a transfer pump on them. I added an electric pump to mine. Makes bleeding it a lot easier too !
JD had a pump kit for many of the other models like these (maybe cab models) for a problem like yours.

Forgot to add I put all new fuel hoses on mine too. I heard the originals were prone to going bad and some looked cracked so I replaced them all.

Thanks Mike got your email and downloaded manual. Was going to print it out but 900 pages a lot of ink!!!!! Got my work cutout for me. Wish I had a heated shop. Also thanks to Tx Jim for help.

Will post repair when I get a chance to work on it. Did not get time to work on it this weekend. Have another tractor I can use when the snow comes. Did everyone get a deer this season? Got 2 and going to make some deer sausage. Merry Christmas Larry
