Milky hydraulic fluid

Well, I got the full service done on the 930 this weekend, finally. Last thing in yesterday was the new fuel gauge (thanks external_link)!
My question is this: When I drained all the hydraulic fluid, I pulled all three plugs and only got 9 gallons out, real milky. I left them drip all night and filled it the next morning. Instantly the fluid was cloudy without even running the tractor! What could that be? I read the archives and saw something about using cheaper fluid will get foamy but not cloudy. I will admit that I used the Hytran equivalent from the local Tractor Supply store. Is this my problem? Thanks for any help! Dan

casenut- would it be from condensation from leaving it drain all night. The tractor was inside! It couldn't have got water in it. Dan

The 930 holds 17gal in the rear end.

Hytran is the best but since you used TSC oil then go with it until you get your problem solved.

May I ask if you changed your hydraulic filter?

Check the rubber boot on the gear shift lever. I think that maybe how water is getting in your rear end.

Its possible to have had some much moisture in your rear end that it caused the new oil to become milky.

Make sure your rear end is full of oil then use your tractor and get it hot and see if that doesn't help remove the water from your rear end.

P.S> I had water get into one of my 930's and it was the rubber boot on the gear shift lever underneath the center plate that was the problem.

The old Case tractors will condense water because of the heavy castings. One draining will not get it all out unless you also flush it. Have seen them flushed with kerosene or diesel fuel.

I did change the hydraulic filter. I even put 4 new hydraulic lines on the back with new couplers. Every fluid and every filter has been changed. I will check the rubber boot by the shifting linkages, but it has not been outside since I changed the fluid. If it ever stops raining here, I will get it hooked to the disc or plow and run it for a day and see if anything changes. Didn't know if adding any kind of methanol would help? Thanks, Dan
