Milwaukee 18v chain saw

I was using this saw to limb a downed oak for firewood. Fully charged 12ah batt. I used it off/on for about 1 hour. Took a break. Grab saw, push safety button, pull trigger, ran for a second then stopped. Pull trigger again, same. Pull a 3rd time, off it ran. Put it down to move limbs. It does not run. Batt = full charge. Grabbed a fully charged 8ah batt. Still does not work.


There were no chips, dust, in either batt nor in the saws battery connection.

Batt connection looks clean, no tarnish.


Loosened chain, removed side cover, cleaned out nothing but dust. Put it back together. No change.


Any ideas?

Charge the battery.

Battery controllers simply shut things down when time to recharge.

Hold it up and flush the contact
area with electronic cleaner. I
occasionally have to do the same
thing with the battery.

Don't know about the chainsaw but
on the other tools there's a light
that blinks a code. So far the
contact cleaner has cured all of
mine.

If it has brushes make sure they are clean and in good contact.

Look for broken wires, especially around the switch area.

My 18v Milwaukee shop vac will stop working and i have to clean the contacts.

I had a problem with my Makita and it was the chain brake
. Its the first saw Ive had with the brake so it took a
couple of minutes to figure out the problem

The indicator on the 8ah batt that had not been used showed full charge.

I flipped the chain brake a few times, forgot to mention in prior post, was no help.

Off the top, don't recall if it has brushes.

I may not be able to answer your question but what I can say is that there are better and worse cordless chainsaws. I'm using a 36 volt Stihl and my crew loves it because it will run for 2-3 hours
on a charge. The saw and the charger is bullet-proof. We have two battery paks so one is on charge if they come in they can swap out the battery. We've used it for 3 years of heavy use with no
problems. Nice thing about Stihl is that other tools use this same, heavy duty battery.
