Mini Grease Gun problem...

I have a small pistol grip style grease gun that takes the 1" by 8" (aprox) tubes of grease that has always worked well but this time when I refilled it the thing will not dispense grease . I have double checked orientation of the tube and tried to bleed air with no result. Kinda' stymied at this point. Anybody else have this happen?

Most likely it is still air locked. I do not see how the orientation of the tube could make any difference. For one thing, it should only go in one way because of the metal rim on one end. If there is no metal rim, then it doesn't matter.

You should be able to lock the rod you pull out to refill the gun into the piston that pushes the grease out the tube. Usually that's done by pulling it out as far as possible and turning it clockwise and pulling gently until you feel it fall into the slot in the piston, then 1/4 turn more to lock it.

Once the rod is locked into the piston you can push the rod against something solid, GENTLY, while operating the gun. That helps force the air out. Be sure to hold the release latch for the rod if there is one. It can be a bit of a juggling act.

Thx Barnyard, I haven't had a chance to look at it again but will try the procedure with the rod as you describe it sometime this weekend...

So it is on the scrap pile. The rod will definitely push grease to the pumping grip but that is all the further it goes. I have removed the nozzle and end coupler and they are clear, not plugged. Problem has to be the pumping mechanism. I don't think I will spend any more time on this. The Missus has been informed that a quality grease gun is on my Christmas list...
