Minneapolis Moline 335 hydraulic problems

I am now the owner of a Minneapolis Moline
335, but there are two issues I was
wondering if anyone else has had. The 3
point arms do not work at all, the person
who sold it to me said the pump might be
missing parts. The other problem is that
the pto shaft is always turning when the
tractor is running, and will not turn off
with the controls. If anyone can offer
advise, I would appreciate it. Thanks in
advance.

Do you have power steering? If it workes hyd pump is working. Does the motor pull a little when you dead head one of the other valves. The pump is easy to take off and is the same as almost.all the other Molines. .

Chad,
It would be best to ask this question on the MM forum. That is where the guys who can really help hang out.
It would also be a good idea to start a new thread for your Jet 3. and not add this to a three year old post.
Now about your question: What little I know about MM hydraulics:

Does your Jet3 power steering work? (Mine has the orbit motor and lines to work the front cylinder. I don't know if any jet3 tractors have mechanical steering or not.) If you have power steering and it is working, then your pump is putting out some flow.

Do your control levers center up? There are supposed to be some springs to move them back to the neutral position. I am thinking if all three of the levers don't center, the other levers don't work either. (This is something to ask on the MM forum.)

The other thing is there are rate and cycle levers on top of the main body. They are made of aluminum and a lot have been broken off. One of those levers if turned full in one direction or the other can cause the 3 point not to work at all. (Here is where we need the MM guys on the MM forum to tell us which one of the levers it is.)

Beyond that, Did you confirm there was actually oil in the reservoir? these aren't Fords, where they use oil from the transmission case. My Jet3 has a dipstick on the left side inside of a vertical length of pipe. If yours doesn't have that, The Jetstar and Jet2 can be checked at the up-turned street elbow at the front or by taking out the six quarter-inch bolts in the plate the rate/cycle levers mount to and lifting the levers and plate off the unit. The oil level should be about 1-1/4" below that plate. I use Dextron III in mine, some guys who share equipment with other brand tractors use whatever the other tractors use in their MMs.
