Minneapolis Moline drill problems

Hello, first post here. i have a M-M p3 13-7 hydraulic lift drill with one half that works fine. on the other side the feed shaft isn't turning and the gears also are not turning. the problem i believe is the drive sleeve with the two set screws isn't engaging. the axle shaft driven by the main gear turns fine but the again the drive sleeve and therefore the double drive gear isn't turning with the drive shaft. i pulled out the two set screws from the sleeve and one looks to be in good condition but the other looks to be sheared off. so, here are my questions

1 do either of those set screws, or both, actually screw into the shaft or are they simply screwed in enough to butt up to the shaft and keep it from sliding back and forth??? according to the parts manual those two screws are identical 7/16 x 7/8, which would indicated to me they aren't long enough to screw in but when i pulled them out the one that was sheared is longer than the other...which would mean the parts manual is wrong basically the parts manual has me confused

2 is there a way to move that sleeve without taking the entire machine apart?? the way im reading the parts diagram, that sleeve inserts into the double drive gear. i tried sticking a screw driver in the gap between the sleeve and the bracket to tap the sleeve down the shaft but that's not working

anyway, any advice on how this machine works, and how to fix this would be appreciated. thanks

thanks, i will. wasn't sure if that was a tractor only forum and i didn't want to get pillaged for posting on the wrong forum :lol:
