My 43 2n seeems to have a spring missing... the one that goes from throtle shaft to the head. I never even noticed it until someone else asked about here. My questions are what does it do and where can I get one if necessary. Thank you.

overnor compensation spring whose purpose is to help prevent governor action from moving your hand throttle set position. Yt & most all old N tractor supply houses offer this spring. Many operate just fine without it.

Here is a picture of the governor compensating spring.

"Many operate just fine without it."

If your tractor is running fine (governor
functioning properly) without the spring I would
not worry about it. I have a couple without it and
cannot tell the difference.

Ken, I wish now I had run it through the 4th hole. At the time I installed the wire in the tube it looked to me like it was too much angle (tension) on the wire so decided not to try it.

Why is #1 not routed through it ??

My tube does not have 5 holes??
Nice looking tractor Ken!
It looks like you are missing the spark plug wire bracket
that holds #1 and #2 so they don't get hit by the fan.
They're a bit pricey, but they are available if you're interested.
