Mixed marriage!

Now that I made you look, is there any problem mounting a JD 48 loader on a Farmall 460? Its a longer story than I need to go into but I have this 48 loader that I dont want to put on my 3010. Im guessing the side rails of the 48 will go on the 460, but will the front cradle for the 3010 fit the front of a 460? I got a line on a 460 gasser that I think could be a nice unit if this marriage works! Thanks.

Unlikely that any of the bolt holes will line up. Unlikely that the spacing of the frame rails will be correct.

If there's enough clear metal to drill bolt holes, and the 460 is too narrow, it's fairly easy to drill some bolt holes and space things out so that it fits.

Anything is possible with a torch and a welder. Set it on a flat level floor and drive the tractor into it. You will see what you have to do. Cut out anything in the way and add anything where you need to. I've made all kinds of loaders fit any tractor over the years.

Check the hydraulic pressure of the two tractors, a lower pressure will reduce the lifting capacity of the loader. Valves will need to be changed over from closed center to open center. Deere added doubler plates inside the channel iron frames on Deere tractors for extra strength, an IH may need the same.

I had a loader that was on three different tractors in its life. Hydraulic cylinders don't care if its open or closed center.

AS long as the width is ok the rest is just drilling and welding(maybe a little cutting :)

No issue but want to see the finished project. Our family has a 460 with Freeman loader and its been an excellent loader tractor. Done everything 3 generations have asked of it.

JD offered mounting frame to mount model 48 loader on IHC tractors & I think other frame can be hade to fit IHC tractors.

If FEL has hyd control valve it needs to be for open center hyd's to operate correctly on IHC tractor hyd system.

If the JD 48 loader is coming off a JD 3010, would it more likely have a quick-tach mounting frame and high pressure cylinders rather than the universal mounting frame and low pressure cylinders? Maybe the original poster can tell us which frame the loader has?

The manual for my 48 loader says the 48 Universal Frame Loader is designed for the 460 amoung other IH tractors and JD two cylinder tractors. The 48 Quick-Tatch loader only lists New Generation JD tractors. Sounds like you may have the Quick-Tatch instead of the Universal Frame loader which pushes against the rear axels.
