I bought a sign a while back thinking it was a oringinal moline sign. The sign is for sure a older sign but my moline buddy said he did not think moline ever made there signs in blue. Since I was not around for moline's heyday can anyone tell me if they remember any of these in the dealerships, or do I have a nice looking fake to hang on my wall..

That is a reproduction. The glass is very close to what an original looked like, but the can (case) is not correct. That sign, and many others that MM offered to their dealers, were made by "Neon Products Inc" from Lima, Ohio and would have a sticker with their name on the back. The correct can would have rounded ends. If you post your email I can send you a pic of an authentic sign like yours.

That is a repro, there are a couple sellers on eBay & other sites selling them not claiming original or repro, but getting too high of prices for the remakes they are. A friend of mine bought a JD sign from him. Nice sign, but it's a repro.

There is what appears to be an original on eBay right now, there were some blue signs "inside" of some MM dealers, but I have no clue how many.

I agree... I've seen quite a few new fakes being advertised as old.

One Massey Harris sign was advertised as "quite rare... and we've had the sign for over 25 years...".

It just struck me as not right, so I asked them if they were sure and what the makers mark was...

They never answered, but they took the auction down within a few hours.

I've seen several of these MM signs and thought it funny when the seller would only offer vague answers about them - like "I don't know", or "can't remember".

I don't mind having new signs on the wall - but I sure don't like those ebay sellers trying to trick people into paying authentic prices for repro stuff.
