mm u distributor timing

I replaced the distributor driver gear on my 1950 u. I have it timed pretty well but would like it to be exact. Are there any timing marks to facilitate a timing light or do u time it by ear?

jr1983,
Open the clutch adjustment hole. The timing mark pointer is cast into the case. There are two spots marked on the flywheel. The first is marked "DC 1-4" and the other is 2-3 at 180 degrees opposite.

Run the tractor at least 1250 RPM when checking timing. Make sure the points are set at 0.018" to 0.020" clearance. For low compression fuel models; set the timing at 27 degrees or 3.75" BTDC. For high compression fuel engines; set the timing 25 degrees or 3.5" BTDC.

Happy wrenching.

Aderson is looking for a distribuitor. How is that related to timing a distribuitor? He should have started a new thread.

One doesn't need to re-time a different distributor? He searched and it brought him here. Here's the info.
Maybe very true, he could start a new thread.
I'll mind my fingers better but I really like information, new or old.
