I just finished building a substantially bigger motor for this tractor. My starter doesn’t like it one bit. A friend told me to get an older Chevrolet (Delco I would think) field housing, drill it for my solenoid mounting, and install high torque windings. The housing is slightly bigger, but will fit. Does anyone know what the data plate number would be? I have spent two years on this and I want to hear it run! Thanks!

I started a 423 U with the original 6 volt starter but needed 2 group 31 batteries. Go to outlaw antique pulling. On Facebook and ask for a gear reduction starter for a U. And ask here.

What crankcase is used in this build ?

Used the 283 block, has single bolt starter.
