There is an adapter that was made by one or more of the boring bar manufacturers that bolts to the bottom of the block with the block upside down. There was one on E-bay awhile back. With the adapter in place, the block is bored with a standard boring bar using a cutter assembly for boring blind holes. They used to be available from Goodson for some of the boring bars.
