MM670 fluids

I am new to the tractor line of MM. I have a MM670 that my uncle passed on to me after passing. I don't understand the fluid level between the power steering and hydraulic lift. the power steering fluid reservoir and pump is located at the front of the engine and it is driven by the belt of the engine, is this where I add power steering fluid? or is this where I add hydraulic fluid? I found a fill tube at the back of the tractor behind the tractor seat where fluid can be added, is that where hydraulic fluid is added? im really confused and seek advise and knowledge.[/b:37b48bf7c8]

The power steering pump and resovoir are on the right side of the engine. There is not a dipstick on this resovoir. The hydraulics dipstick is on the back of the tractor. I have the parts/repair and operators manuals for the M670 tractor for sale.

Do they both ( hydraulic and power steering resivoirs) use hydraulic fluid?? Just curious, I thought I saw that in my manual. By the way... I hope you enjoy your new toy.

My 1966 M670 Super has stamped Type A or use Type A transmission fluid on the cover of the power steering reservoir.

im on track with the power steering fluif reservoir and know how to add fluid in the reservoir, on the hydraulic fluid I understand the filler tube but I still do not see the dip stick for checking hydraulic fluid, where is it? is it located close to the filler tube?

I seen in a manual online where it says that for my model of M670 that the power steering and hydraulics use the same hydraulic fluid, im going with that to top off the power steering and hydraulic fluid

The dipstick might be in the filler tube? It is on many of our MM's. On the other hand, my M5 only has a cap, and no dipstick.

That might be a little misleading. On my m602 the engine oil cap and gas cap both say that use hydraulic type "A" and that is not where that goes. The Agco parts list show different numbers for those applications so maybe someone got a good deal on them caps along the line somewhere.

As far as I can see all the Manuals say use only Genuine MM hydraulic oil which we used to buy by the 5 gallon bucket but I have good luck with other brands of Hydraulic oil.

My M670 Super manual states that as well. I believe MM's hydraulic fluid years ago was Type 55 which was close to Type A transmission fluid, and I had been told it superceeds it.

Thought I'd post a pic of the dipstick on my 670. Wondered if
yours broke off in the fill tube. May not help?? By the way, your
power steering resivoir should only be filled to just below the
point where the container starts to taper towards the cap.

My 445s, 4Star, and M-5s with tel-o-flo hydraulics, you are expected to pull the plate with the Rate and Cycle levers on it to check Hyd. Fluid levels. I have modified them to be like my M670 but have not come up with a dipstick. I bought a 3/4x1/2x3/4 tee and a 1/2" close nipple to replace the drain plug in the housing and then put a 6-8" 3/4" pipe in one end of the tee to get the fill point above the running level, I also got a 45 deg. 3/4" street ell to get the drain away from the tractor then used a 3/4" pipe plug as the drain.
The hydraulic level is supposed to be within an inch of the top of the housing where the levers are mounted. I just use a screwdriver down the pipe to check the fluid level and eyeball the front of the housing. Works for me.
