Model 205-4 serial number

Thanks, I had looked it up on the Tractor Date site and noticed that my serial number was unusual which is why I asked on this forum. another thing that is unusual is the Tractor Data site shows a 216 loader
as standard and my tractor has a 214 loader which I cannot find any information on either. If you have any other places for me to look or information I would appreciate it.

In the parts book the 216 loader shows a mounting kit for the 205 series among others. The 214 shows mounting kits for the 1010 and 1020 series, not 205s. That said, since that is on yours it apparently will fit. Mix and match is not unusual.

Here is what I could find:

https://www.tractor-specs.net/massey-ferguson/mf-205.html

he Massey Ferguson 205 is a 2WD or 4WD (205-4) compact utility tractor manufactured by Toyosha for distributor Massey Ferguson in Osaka, Japan from 1978 to 1984. The Massey Ferguson 205 is equipped with a 1.1 L (65.0 cuin) two-cylinder diesel engine and a transmission with 6 forward and 2 reverse gears.

I'm beginning to wonder if I do not have a 205-4. From your parts book what other models besides the 1010 and 1020 does the 214 loader fit?

It looks like the 214/1014 loader fits the 1010, 1020 standard, and 1020 Hydrostatic tractors. That is by the book, there is always the possibility someone reworked the mountings to fit a tractor, like a 205 series.

Here is the link to the home page for the AGCO parts books and info on using them. This will let you research your questions without waiting for answers.

Thanks!! You have been very helpful. I will check out the link. I'm still wondering about the odd serial number, I can see where another plate used to be under the plate that says J3590, maybe that isn't the
serial number after all. Now I will start looking for information on the 60 finish mower that came with it. It is 3 point hitch pto driven with no readable markings.

Try posting a picture of the tractor serial number tag. Did you buy this new or used? If used do you know the history of all previous owners? I wonder if that could be a previous owner's number, some companies applied their own tags with numbers for tracking and removed the manufacturer's tag.

I think you are correct on the serial number change. I had no idea that would ever be done. I will attach a picture. So with your help we have determined that I do indeed have a model 205-4 with a modified
loader. Thanks again!!

That looks like some company's ID tag so I expect you are likely out of luck as far as identifying a year, or other detail, beyond what you figure out by research and matching things up without the original MF serial number tag.
