Model 50 3 point hitch

I recently bought this model 50 tractor and now I need to use it and I have no idea what I'm doing. I have a brush hog and a tiller (pictures attached). I assume I need a 3 point hitch to use them. I can't find an original so I am wondering if the one from external_link will work? (picture attached) It says it will but I wanted to get an opinion from someone that knows what they are doing. Also, I really need a bucket for this tractor. Any suggestions? Do I search for an original or are there universal one out there? Or... do I scrap the whole thing and sell the tractor and get something already set up? I bought this for $2,000 so I thought I was getting a pretty good deal but at the time I didn't know everything that was going to be involved in getting it ready for what I need to do with it.

There was no option for a factory 3 pt for a model 50. Yes a JD 800,801 or 801A could be installed BUT those aforementioned add on's offered no normal centerlink or normal centerlink attaching point to tractor. I would choose another style aftermarket 3 pt hitch attachment.n Does your nice looking 50 have live or trans driven pto?

You may be a lot better off, at least in the short term, hiring the work you need done. Then take your time to study up on what equipment makes a good match for the work you need to do. Maybe pull type equipment would serve you. The mower in your picture looks like it needs some parts or maybe they just aren't in the picture. A used tractor can be a curse or a blessing especially if you aren't mechanically inclined as you seem to indicate. Example is a tractor I bought of $9,000.00 but didn't know the block was ruined from cavitation and spent another $7.000.00 to repair.

Thanks for the input. I'm just learning all the ins and outs. Been reading the operator's manual. I believe it's trans driven because it doesn't constantly run. You have to engage it with a lever.

Beautiful looking 50..........:)

On the internet enter as per below..

John Deere 3 Point Hitch Conversion A, B, G, 50, 60, 70 MADE IN USA

A three point lift requires hydraulics / Rockshaft on your 50...
Post a picture of your 50 viewing the REAR /AFT of your tractor..

Live PTO doesn't mean it runs constantly, it still needs engaging, but the PTO engagement is entirely separate from the large vertical clutch lever that engages the transmission. The horizontal lever on the right side of the battery box is the PTO clutch lever and the Live drive is provided by engaging the small lever on the platform near your right foot position.

Beautiful tractor. Please tell us a bit more. Serial number?, Does it have the optional hour meter and if so hoiw many hours?, and what is hanging below the engine - a hose or bracket or some kind?

I see it has been converted to alternator. Also wanted to ask where you live if you wouldn't mind telling us. Thanks.

Thank you. That's newer than mine. Mine is a 1955, SN 5030309.

You probably already know that the hose underneath is for a tank heater for the cooling system to aid cold weather starts.

I should have mentioned (and I know it's mentioned in the Operator's Manual) that the PTO shift lever by your right foot must have the engine not running when engaging. If it doesn't easily engage, bump the starter lightly to align the gears. The gears will clash violently if the shift is tried with engine running.
