Model A Leak behind flywheel

Getting to the end of overhauling the A, and got it running. But of course I have a leak. At the crankshaft behind the flywheel.
Tried to put everything together real carefully. Plastigauged the bearings to shim the bearings right, got the crankshaft endplay right with a dial indicator.
Used the cork seal for a main seal there. Oil level is right. Oil pressure is 10 pounds. Don’t seem to be much blow by at the breather.
So what can I do to go in there and make it a sure fix? Have some put a lip seal after machining? Have some used an o ring instead of a cork seal?
Looking for answers ??? Thanks

Did you center the oil slinger to the outer housing before tightening up the bolts ? Stick feeler gauge into the gap and try and get it even all the way around. Do you also have the square headed pin in the flywheel ? and is it in the mating notch in the slinger ?

Really was unaware of centering the housing cover, but that is a good thought. And yes, I have the pin in the flywheel mating with the slinger. Any other thoughts here? like putting in a lip seal? Or is that really unnecessary if everything is good? One thing I didn’t do which I again learned later, is pushing the shims up against the crankshaft
Thanks

I reused the old cork seal. I got a seal in the Reliance gasket set, but was so small a diameter that I’m sure it would have broke working it over the end of the crankshaft. So I used the old one which was snug sliding over, and also used some sealer as it slide home. What I think but can’t be for sure,is it is pushing oil out around the slingers OD
Thanks

What year is your A?

I don't think there is enough material in a OEM slinger cover to put a seal in. My A does have a lip seal instead of a slinger, BUT I made a new cover and a new "slinger" for the seal to run on.

You will need to replace the seal with a new one because what happens to the old is they get a glaze one them and will let oil by them. Iv been there done that.

If the slinger rubs the housing it won't work right. And those shims being a gap it could let too much oil get out ?

I agree with JD man wis, you need to use a new seal. Sounds like you're good with oil pressure. Did you re-solder your shims? (Lot of guys don't.) I always re-solder and use a flathead screw driver to push the shim pack against the crank as I tighten the main bearing assembly together.
