Model B Snap Coupler question

Hello;

I came by in readin in the manual that there was rigging to have the tractor use snap coupler implements. Does anyone know of how well this works? I want to know before I put the work in.

The snap coupler was a retrofit that could be used on Bs after 60 thousand something serials with the hydraulic pump. One of the AC history books, not C H Wendel's, I think Norm Swinfords, shows a picture of it. HTH. best Yeoman

A-C did offer a factory Snap Coupler conversion kit for the Model B. The drawbar was reversed 180 degrees and the SC bell mounted to the bottom of the drawbar. Complete kits are hard to find now days and command premium prices. Partial kits show up occasionally. There are several guys that frequent the external_link forum that own Model B tractors with complete Snap Coupler kits. For more info, click on my website below and go to the "Archive" section. Here is a pic of my snap coupler B. It works good. I have picked up a AC 5" bush hog with it and it makes the front very light. It will lift my 5" 939 Ford cutter pretty easy and will lift this 24 disc harrow pretty well using the 3PH adapter. Hope this helps, later, Nat

I made a post and lost it somehow, so here is another. I have a B with the snap coupler conversion. It works well, will pick-up and carry a 5' AC -snap coupler bush-hog, but it is light in the front. It lifts and carries my 5' ford 939 mower well. Here is a pic of it with my 24 disc harrow. I handles it pretty well, though light in the front for it. HTH, Nat

Works very well. My father purchased a new B in 1954 and it came with this snap coulper hitch you are talking about. I still use it quite often, 6"disk, 2 14" bottom plows, blade, bush hog, and spray is the equiptment that I have with it.
