I just acquired a "B" that was going to be sold for scrap!
It is a "43 model I believe.
There is the main fuel tank but then there is a smaller secondary tank that is plumbed into the primary fuel sediment strainer. What is this smaller tank for?

Your "B" was originally set up to run on distillate and the small tank had gasoline in it you started the tractor on gas then when it got warmed up you switched it over to distillate or as it often referred to as tractor fuel.

That is what is called a dual fuel tractor. Set up to start on gas then switch to a cheaper fuel like distillate or Kerosine etc. Back in the day farmer used what we would call fuel oil to run many older tractor because it cost about half of what gas did

Don, It is just a matter of education. Keep rescueing that old iron. Tell her it is better than putting your cash in a Certificate of Deposit at the local bank. Explain to her how you can sell that old iron some day for big financial returns. Try to look serious when you tell her this.

The engines were designed to start on gasoline and be switched to either distillate or kerosene. The distillate and kerosene engines were different from each other. Either will run on gasoline, however they perform better when on the fuel for which the engine was designed. Today kerosene is too expensive and that form of distillate is no longer produced.

If my wife told me that I would then tell her well you have to get rid of your goats and also you have to figure out how she was going to do many other things. She gets her things and I get to have my things. If it does not work that way she does not get to have her things. Guess that is why I have some 30 or so tractors on the place and still looking to find her tractor. She did get her 38 Special she wanted for her birthday. Yep she has wanted a hand gun and she got it. I wanted to get her a 357 but could not find one for what I got the 38 for
