water pump is leaking on my case model d, so I have taken it out. question is does the impeller need to come off before the pump can be taken apart? I seem to only get a little movement trying to press the shaft out towards the impeller.

do yourself a favor just but a new one from john saeli Not as expensive as you might think and installed forget
it!

Yes first pull the impeller , the impeller has 2 boltholes for that purpose.
