Model S fuel tank attachment

I'm putting this '47 Model S back together and am wondering what holds the gas tank in place. Specifically, I don't see what keeps the tank from slipping backward. I have the hood which bolts down over the top but am I missing any other pieces? There were some fabric pads under the tank when I took it apart. Is this normal? Any suggestions what type of material to use?

This is my Grandfathers tractor and the first time I've worked on one. It's been quite an experience as I am not a mechanic.

Thanks,
Tom

The hood is what holds the tank on.
The fabric is important to help hold the tank in position and to make sure it doesn't wear through with vibration.
If you don't have the fabric anymore just double up some canvas or use thick gasket material.
While I was restoring my 45 SC I used bungy cords to hold the tank in place until I re-installed the hood.

The original material was 1/4" thick wool felt under the tank. There were two strips ~2" wide, and they were laid side-to-side on the two "steps" of the fuel tank support. There was also a strip of material between the hood and the top of the tank, and one between the top of the grill and the hood. These strips are all shown in the parts manual on the CaseIH website.

I have used strips of old leather belts under the tank. Your a little ahead of me with your SI. I'm getting closer with my SO though.

Wool felt is still aviable, I found it online. Comes in various colors, I got a bright red which matched the paint nicely. You buy it by the foot like fabric and it easily cuts into 2" wide strips.

OK, I'll get some felt.
Chris, I didn't realize there was an on-line parts listing. That is really nice!
Here are a few other pictures. I can't finish painting till Spring but otherwise it's getting close!
Don't look too closely to the tires. They are mismatched! Haven't found any replacements yet so that's how they will be.
Dick, my serial number indicates this is an SO.

I cut up a inner tube and put under my gas tank. I may have even doubled it. May not last as long as felt, but less prone to letting the tank slide.

There was two or three rubber(Ithink) strips under the tank. What holds the tank on is the hood. The tank can't slide backwards as the filler neck on the tank goes through a hole in the hood.
