Modified JD A

Got a late JD A that turned into a big project. Had an aluminum block and cylinder head cast. Bored the block big and modified some pistons to fit from a big diesel engine. Used the valves too, big valves. Huge runners on the head - used some race car tech, header manifold, twin carbs, twin stacks. Tuned it on the dyno and it makes lots of power. Is that beast legal to pull in Div. 5 around NC, TN, and SC? OTTPA and NATPA? Probably should have started with a G looking back.

muffler, friend of my cousin has a B that's bad to the bone. Well over 200+ hp @ 3000+ rpms. He says there ain't a farmall/oliver that can hang with it. Got the molines runnin' scared too. Says he's Div 2 legal, or somethin' like dat.

Working a stock stroke on mine. Scared of a welded up crank. Seen too many problems. Dyno goes to 125 hp, can get that at less than stock rpm's.

Not sure about the big pulls, but the smaller local pulls we attend in SC have some of the biggest cry babies I've ever seen! Stroked 4 cyl. and diesel 6 cyl. pullers will turn into middle school girls when a 2 cyl with dual exhaust and an electric fuel pump beats them. I would really like to hear some about how you made the block and head.(email is open) I pull a G JD and an M JD. And never seem to be satisfied haha. Best of luck pulling!

Have had good success with those 360* even fire counter cranks. Bit of vibration, but weldin' flywheel to crank will make it bullet proof.

125 horse at less than stock rpms on a stock stroke? Sounds a little bit far fetched to me. But I have been wrong before. How many cubes? Post some pics id like to see this thing.

I got my G pulling 10,500 on any track. and my lil M pulling 4000 anywhere 5000 on hard track...i think ill just stick with what i got. Its just a shame you have to hide what you have. No point in going wild on the inside and stock on the outside. Kinda like women, no need in a good additude and a crappy outside. just defeats the whole purpous.

Send me an email Deere Fever, kinda interested in hearing about this DOHC idea.

Thought about posting a photo but its painted up and you cannot really tell whats there. Spent extra time milling the outside of the block and head to near stock looking and sandblasted. Just don"t know whats ok in the top classes. Still kind of new to this while getting out of the race car business. Looking forward to ironing out the bugs. Might try a big crank on the next one or if this one breaks. Saw the video of a G breaking last Nov. in SC and it has me worried.

Hollywood I have heard of you and that bunch you run with from GA. Folks go to complaining when two truckloads of Deeres show up. 10500 is a lot for a G but I hear it handles it well. How about your buddies?

The head and cubes do the trick. Needs a lot of flow that you won't get with stock or aftermarket heads. Has anyone tried a turbocharger on a two cylinder? Is that legal in the top classes?

I was the next tractor to pull when that tractor broke. After watching the video several times and actually seeing the tractor after it broke, i am lead to believe that something broke inside the engine and it was actually pushed apart, it didnt just break in half. The crank was still together. Its one of those mysterys we will never know haha

Don't offer any more info than you need..!!

Don't mention that the block is aluminum..!!

Humm..I never heard of a successful 360* JD 2-cylinder....understandable that it would vibrate a little..!!
(Weld the flywheel on..?????????)..

Ron..

Got a local pull to let me use the sled today. 5th gear with 18.4 cuts would spin out at 8500. Not too shabby. Won"t pull 6th. Ready for the big boys now I think. 12 hooks and think everything is ready for some competition if there is any.
