Moline G900 need clutch help

First time on the MM board. Thanks for having me. I may be on here a lot with questions.

Here's my problem. I have my FIL's G900, propane, Ser. #33000521. It's been sitting for a number of years. I'm trying to resurrect it. I don't think the engine is locked, but I would like to find out before I throw money at it. I jacked up the right tire, put it in 5th gear & rotated the tire, thinking this would make the engine turn, too. No dice. I can hear the gears moving, but no movement on the engine.

Another thing I discovered is that the Amplitorq lever will not engage or maybe disengage, since I don't know if it's engaged or not. I don't know if this would affect the clutch/motor engagement.

As you see, I've got a lot of "I don't know's" in here. That's why I need your help. Where do I begin to tackle this problem?

I do know the starter is bad. The solenoid is not. I've gone through the wiring, & cleaned and/or replaced all the wiring except the lights. If I determine that the engine is free & can get the clutch operational, then I thought I would try to pull it to start it.

If I reach this level of success, then I'll be willing to spend some money on her.

Any suggestions you have would be welcomed heartily.

first thing to do is pull the spark plugs and oil the cyl's. turning by the fan pressing on the belt will turn it if free. remember propane is a very dry fuel so good chance it is stuck. but oiling the cyl's on any engine sitting is standard procedure. AND when you know they wont be started oil the cy's when parked to prevent sticking.

Take it out of gear and try rolling engine by rotating fan. As said earlier, you may need to use one hand to put tension on belt or it will slip.

I did that. No movement. I put a socket with breaker bar on the crankshaft and PULLED! No joy. I think I’ll tow this one up on the hill & get the 5 Star. I know it’s engine is free. Needs a rear tire & both fronts.

Next I’ll need to take off the basket stripper & find the fenders, 3-point, etc.

Or if the M602 is free I might try it. Needs all four tires & wheels, but might be less trouble than the 5 Star.

But I think I’m done with the G900 for now.

I should have hung onto my JD 4440.

Thanks for the help.

Remove starter and use pry bar on ring gear. Work it back and forth with atf and paint thinner in cylinders. Usually takes a couple of weeks to break loose.

On a MM Amplitorq lever forward is direct drive, back is amplitorq engaged. You must be in direct drive to pull start the tractor or try to turn the engine from a rear wheel.

Before you do any of the other suggestions. Take the rocker covers off and check that all valves are loose so you don't bend any push rods or worse.
