Monitor Display For 1770 Planter

Hi to everyone. I bought a 2007 16 row 1770 planter and now need to select the right monitor display. The planter has VRD and I am being told that because of that option a "Brown Box" display will not work and that instead I need a 2600 display of which I do not doubt really though additional confirmation would be good. The main concern is not over paying for it. The price offered for a used one is $2500 which is probably fair from a dealer but does anyone know of a place that offers them for less?

There are a lot of electronics advertised on Ag Talk daily. I would put a want to buy ad on there and you should have no trouble finding one. A lot of people have switched to the 2630 monitor so the 2600's are out there.
 
We had a vrd one that was run through a brown box, can't remember the yr though. If I remember correctly the brown box works until the switch to seed star 2, which I'm unsure of them that happened. I would do more digging if I were you. The 2600 is a ton better to use though.
