more 4020 gas

Still trying to get the 4020 gas to run better. At this point - I'm fairly certain that its a fuel issue. I took the line off to the carb and turned the engine over - the pump is ok as there was good flow there. The screen in the line at the carb was not very good. I am going to get a new one today - if I'm really lucky that will do it, but I may need to adjust the carb some. Does anyone have a diagram of the Zenith carb on a 4020? The manual shows the Marvel-Schebler and that is not helpful. How do I adjust the float on the Zenith?

Alliss chalmers used zenith carbs. Been years since I owned one can't remember anything about adjustments. But it might give you another source to find more info. Sorry not much help!

Has it ever had the red Stabil, product in it? If you dont get that gas burned out in a year, well enough said!

have you had the carb apart? it is fairly easy to clean and refurbish a carburetor. my 3020 gas had liquid in the float. So I replaced and adjusted the float level, as well as made sure everything was clean, and it runs good now. The pertronics ignition helped a lot also.

There were several 4020 gasser's around here. Most people got tired trying to get them to run and put diesel's in em.

Go and buy a new updated Zenith carb from Roberts carb in Spencer Iowa and all your problems will be solved. Best thing I ever bought.
