More 504 problems

Just got done putting on a Schwartz WF on the 504. Turns hard and squeals standing still on cement floor, when moving or jack up it steers fine. This is the same 504 w/ 3pt. This is the same 504 w/ 3pt and electrical problems.Thank you, DTK

Make sure the lower upright spindle thrust bearings are good and lubricated. they are at the bottom of the uprights where the spindle makes its turn. If there is low hydraulic pressure that may also affect the issue. Did it turn easily with a narrow front? Jim

When the front is up in the air there is no downward force on the spindles, bearing and tierods when weight is applied to worn parts they with start to protest bind up and make noise. If that wide front was used with a loader, the spindles and bearing really take a beating. Even if it wasn't used with a loader parts wear. I would jack it up and take the entire front apart and inspect it for wear. I would suspect your going to find that there is worn bearing, spindles, tie-rod ends and steering knuckles.

IF all is tight when jacked up when was it last greased. Just a grease job makes a lot of difference. Our 574 with a loader on it will show the difference if it has not been greased on a regular schedule.

I am suspecting hyd issues . The wide front has not had much use. Check pressure with gauge in remote outlet? Steers very nice when moving. Seems to me it steered easier standing still w/ narrow front . This is the first it ran since last fall. Thanks Jim.

Wide front is like new hardly used. Noise sounds like its coming from flow divider - pump area.

Ah that would have been good to know where the noise was coming from. So this sounds like it's a symptom of the same problem as the rear hitch. How does your oil look? When's the last time the filters have been changed? When you say squealing, do you mean the pump sounds like it's working too hard and producing I higher than normal hydraulic whine? I am guessing that you have a restriction or two in the system that is overworking the pump when using the power steering and blocking a passage for the hitch.

I. Could not speak to cleaning out a hydraulic system with diesel as I've never tried it. I would wonder if you have parts of a scrapper or o-ring running around in the system.

(quoted from post at 10:25:08 04/09/23) Filters changed a year ago. Can you flush w/ diesel fuel? Thanks

Sure, if you want to burn up the pump and waste a bunch of diesel fuel.

If whatever's stuck in there isn't being flushed out by the oil, it sure isn't going to be flushed out by diesel fuel.
