More carb questions

I put a kit in the carb, soaked it overnight in cleaner, blew out all the holes and put in the kit, pre set the adjustment screws, and she fire right up. Screwing in the Idle jet has no effect on the running of the engine........What am I missing?

I put a kit in the carb, soaked it overnight in cleaner, blew out all the holes and put in the kit, pre set the adjustment screws, and she fire right up. Screwing in the Idle jet has no effect on the running of the engine........What am I missing?

The engine has to be idling relatively S L O W L Y for the idle mixture screw to be effective.

Also, as you are probably aware, it is "reverse-acting", screwing it "in" reduces the air entering the idle circuit, enrichening the mixture
