Since we're chomping at the bit on hydro problems, how big of sledge hammer does it take to remove the lower case cover from the pumpbody. Or maybe there is an easier way, or no way at all?

Bailey........you haven't read the manual, have you?

First you haffta remove the PTO shaft 'cuz it goes thru the hydraulic pump which is part of the baseplate.

2nd, lower the aft end first, slightly pushing the front end up.

Its a heavy bugger, use a floor jack. And not surprizingly, maybe the previous owner used unnecessary "puckey" on the gasket to prevent potential leaks.

And surprizingly enuff, this has been discussed and answered many times. You might want to browse the archives at the top of this great N-Board for more hydraulic tips..........respectfully, Dell

Your right haven't read any manuals, the tractor was abandoned in a feild and I didn't see one next to the dealer sticker. lol lol Nevertheless makes sence. thanks for the info. I've only been online for a few days, so I've still got lots of miles to make up.
