This is my Gundlach hoe drill. I think it is also called a shovel drill. It was built too light to have a seat, so it was a walk-behind operation. The shovels had to be lifted and latched at the end of the field. Then unlatched and lowered on the next run.

Gundlach's were made in Belleville, Illinois.

When the implement was a heavy load for the horses, they didn't put a seat or standing platform on the implement; that would increase the load on the horses. The operator walked behing so he didn't add to the load.

I have lots more of the same equipment, but afraid of posting too much. Then's there's my Allis snap-coupler stuff.

Here's a view from the side. My house is in the background. The farm across the road belongs to one of my Mennonite neighbors, Wayne Martin.

I really enjoy seeing your pictures. Please keep them comin'. I enjoy old equipment and farm sites.

That isn't junk, that's "gently used antique farm equipment"! Thanks for the photos. There isn't much of that stuff left in my corner of the woods.
