More on Tractor Rides.

Not an accident but: In the driver's meeting the organizers clearly state, "If someone breaks down everyone else keep going. The support staff will deal with the breakdown including load it on the trailer and meet at the lunch spot or back at the gathering point if it occurs on the way back." BUT YET a tractor breaks down, a bunch of people stop, and the road gets blocked. And some of the time it's because they ran out of gas.

Well, 10 mph is not 3 mph.
We've got a minimum of 9. That's about what a Case SC will do and there's a few of those. We adopted 9 after the "then president" let a new comer who way underestimated what we were doing, go on a Farmall Cub. A lot of us couldn't even idle that slow in road gear.

Our local 2 cylinder club holds a tractor trek as they call it every year. The minimum speed allowed is 10 mph and everyone seems happy with that. To tag on the other thread they don't have any forms or papers to sign for insurance. I asked about that last year and they weren't concerned but the club itself doesn't have any. I carry insurance on my units. Tom in Mn.

I will say this. If a ride is too fast or too slow choose not to go on it. If you are the organizer, you get to pick your speed.

We did trail rides years ago I was one of the sponsors we didn't have insurance but we found out the hard way we did needed it. Had a horse hit by a car thought we were going to be sued by the owner of the horse said we didn't have enough security we did our best but as you know s//t happens

There's one ride I go on where they have 3 different speed classes with slowest in the rear. Seems to work okay, but the fastest group is the biggest group of complainers. Mostly the green and red guys unhappy with the speed and each other. I have a Farmall M I use and ran with the fastest group once, now I go with the second group of tractors.

There was a ride I went on a few years back and the guy organizing it picked all the biggest gravel hills in the county (Loess Hills of Iowa, 6-10% grades). Guy was out of his mind when it came to safety, so I have never gone on that ride since.
