more starter questions

Thanks for all the help to install starter on my 48 8n. Forgot to ask how you get that little pin in the end of Bendix. I bought a new starter and a new Bendix. I know there must be a trick to getting the pin in. Any help is appreciated.

apering the pin slightly helps and I just put one in today, I drove a tapered punch through the starter drive and stater shaft. Choose one that is close to coning out the other side. I used a small pair of vice grips held the pin next to the hole A hammer should get it started. I held the starer in a vice and supported the drive with a block of wood. once it is stater it goes right in
