Mount JD 350 sickle mower p2

Happy Fourth!

Thank you to Roger and Wore Out and everyone who helped with my previous question

I did make the changes to set it to Wide position. I put a bar on my drawbar to connect the center chain.
My current problem is: It won't raise it off the ground and when I lower, the bar isn't flat on the ground.

I would like to ask your help in: How to set up this mower? Or What am I doing wrong?

I'm guessing that the problem is the chain on the back. Since I turned that metal piece over to set it wide, the chain is now farther away, it s like the chain is now shorter.

How do I adjust these 2 chains? What's the correct length? How do I make them be the correct length?

Am I doing something else wrong? Did I do the connection to the drawbar correct?

I did find the manual, but it doesn't seem to cover this.

Thank you to any JD 350 mower experts that can help!

A couple of commnets...

The ''bar'' you have put on the tractor drawbar needs to be more rearward so the second chain will limit the main frame of the mower from dropping lower than a certain height (I can't remember the ''spec'', but it's in the O.M.).

Did you re-locate the ''shaft'', Key #10, in the drawing below, frame the LH hole in the main frame to the RH hole as well as swapping the lift components?

If those items have been done, the O.M. covers the setting up of the chains you asked about, very well (as I recall).

One setting controls spring tension which makes the tractor carry most of the weight of the mower, taking weight off of the ''shoes''.

The length of the other chain controls how the outer shoe lifts first, when raising the mower.

Take a look at the information on page 42 of the operator's manual.

This is one [b:654c4848f0][i:654c4848f0]farmer tech[/i:654c4848f0][/b:654c4848f0] method that will work.
