Mounting a kitchen sink.

I bought an old time kitchen sink that probably came from the 1920s or 1930s. It has the tall back splash (about 20") one deep sink and a large drip tray.

It looks a (exactly) like this:

Question is, how do you attach it to the wall?

"Mounts to wall with included mounting brackets."

We had one like that in the first house we bought. It had a couple of brackets that screwed to the wall with HEAVY wood screws, and the sink hung on the brackets. A very simple setup. A very HEAVY sink.

dhermesc: There is a bracket on the left at the bottom of the page you linked to in your post, will it work? There are dimensions for it there also.

Just happen to be remodeling an apartment now that has the same set up. As other YT"ers had replied .. underneath there is a bracket/or brackets that are mounted to the studs via at least # 10 wood screws of appropriate length(s). The one I am taking out has a long cast bracket as opposed to two smaller ones. Bath sinks are mounted in the same way and most have two smaller brackets via mounting. Once you figure your height given the brackets the rest is cake. Replaced a few of them in my day. Hope this also helps.... Jim

I got 100 pound "mud sink" before I moved here and finally got around to mounting it in the laundry room. No bracket but it"s easy to make one out of scrap metal. All it has to do is allow the back of the sink to hook over a lip.

Thanks for all the replies.

I missed the mounting brackets on the add I linked to. I was going to make one out of oak but even that seemed kind of iffy given the weight of the sink. I'll see about making a metal one or buying those in the add.

I paid $5 for this thing and thought it would be great for a basement utility sink (walk out basement) for the kids to use for their calf bottles and for my wife to use for washing things from the garden. Given that it enamel looks pretty good it was a huge bargain considering what a "new" one costs.

old 3 hole brackets were made from cast iron you should be able to get them from a plumbing company or supply house if you have one around. if brackets hold sink loose from wall just take copper smash flat set it on brscket as shims and this will make sink tight to wall. you should have 3 or 4 brackets.
