mower deck spring?

Spring has 2 hooks,& one eye for deck, one for idler pulley. I use visegrips to strecth spring but have a he_ll of a time getting hook into eye. Any sugestions of better or painless way of making it easier.

When dealing with an issue like this, most of the time I connect the spring to the idler and then use a prybar to move the spring/idler assembly to install the belt.

Make a loop of recoil rope and a wood handle,hoop rope in hook and pull

Used bailing wire & wood handle. Finnaly got it but it took a lot of time. Thanks guys.
