Mower Height Stabilizer

I was mowing yesterday and the Mower Height Stabilizer broke on my brush hog. I need the "A" shaped part that the chain attaches to. The "A: shaped part fits into the notches on the back of my 9N. By moving it from one notch to another i can adjust the height on my mower deck. Does anyone know what this piece is called or where to get one? thanks, Gary

I'm not sure what you use on your 9N to control mower height and will not be able to so determine without a photo.

That said, most folks use limiter chains to control cutting height on Ns without position control.

Sounds like it may be like this, just a bent rod with chain welded to it. I don't think they make these anymore.

Thanks JMOR. That is pretty much it. Mine was not quite that tall but I guess that they are made a little different but work the same. I may be able to get a welding shop to make one if i have too. I was hoping that someone out there had them for sale. Thanks again for the quick reply. Gary

ou might get by with just a clevis to straddle the 'rooster comb' and use longer chains from clevis down to hog, similar to this bolt/chain affair:

Thanks again JMOR. I guess iIneed to thing outside the box on this one. I really appreciate you help, especially the pictures. Gary

ou're welcome.
Don't junk it for 'stay chains'...I love those & they are a rare find.

That is exactly the kind of set up my fifty year old corsicana shredder has on it. That a bar to set your chain is a great set up for the leaky n hydraulic pump.

Working out a rehab and connection of a JD grooming mower to my 2N. Down to height limiter chain set-up, looking around here for tips and tricks and came across a "rooster comb", neater than sliced bread. Anybody got a link to some deminsions or other ways, pictures of accomplishing the same thing. I can see a shackle over the bar as the attachment point for the chains. Thanks, Jim.

I like the idea of putting black plastic pipe over the PTO shaft in the picture above. I can't tell you how many hours I've spent cutting weeds off with a pocket knife after brushhogging!
