What is the correct size 3ph mower for a Jubilee - 5 foot or 6 foot? Also, will I need to use a limiter chain?

Thanks!

Do you mean a rotary cutter or a finish mower?
A healthy Jubie should run a 6' rotary cutter all day in all but the most heavy of vegetation...and certainly a 6' or even 7' finish mower.
Guess I don't know what ou mean by limiter chain...only chains we run in either application are the sway chains for the 3pt hitch arms.

Thanks for the reply, Pete. I am talking about a bush hog type cutter, not a finish mower. My Jubilee is in excellent condition, full power from engine and hydraulics. Think it will handle a 6 foot cutter OK?

The limiter chains limit the distance that the lift can drop toward the ground, thereby holding the cutter at a minimum distance from the ground and bearing most of the cutter weight. I just don't know if they are necessary or beneficial on a Jubilee.

Cal we run a 5' cutter on our 2N in normal stuff and have actually used a 6' cutter in light stuff comfortably...your Jubie should hardly notice a 5' cutter being back there, and like I said unless you're into some really thick or viney stuff you should be fine with a 6 footer. Have never used a chain in that fashion...along with the tail whell ou Ns handle the cutter weight well...with the 2N we have to use the Zane Thang to maintain height and an ORC in line in the PTO neither of which you should need as I believe yoou have a 2 stage clutch...correct? Limiter chains should not be necessary on a 8n of jubilee, IF lever placed in "position control" and system in good repair. Many are worn and in disrepair requiring some limiter. In place of a limiter chain, I am going to use a piece of steel attached to the rockshaft pin and resting on the axle trumphet.
6 foot rotary in volunteer blackberries is to much for a Ford 600 BTDT
