Mr Major where are you !?

Good day Gentlemen,
My dilemma today is, after a year of running my 1962 Fordson Dexta Gas and it always having a miss I dug in deep to the distributor then just the points and condenser . I found that the arms are sized and don’t move and my springs were advance/retard springs were mulched in the bottom . I am wondering if anyone knows what the springs are and if some other kit would work ?very little info it appears . I know that they mak a kit to eliminate points . I am poor . Lucky to have the tractor . Not an option right now . Thanks anyone

There are lots of suppliers in Britain who offer parts for the Lucas D3A4 distributor: I recommend 'The Distributor Doctor": Helped me out with the (much rarer) distributor on one of my gas majors several years ago, and shipping to North America was quite reasonable: https://distributordoctor.com/

MajorMan (Brian) hasn't been on here in some time - Not since January of last year. Too bad, as he was uber polite and helpful. He's still active on the UK Fordson forums - you might try there if still having trouble sourcing parts/info. I don't know if this was necessarily the case for Brian, but I know on a lot of the US-based forums/sites I follow, a boat-load of the regular contributors from Britain, Europe, and Canada disappeared around the same time because they were all angry at the anti-British/anti-Europe/anti-Canadian rhetoric that started coming out of Washington. Not saying they were necessarily right or wrong to do so - just saying why I don't think you'll get an answer from him and why I don't think we'll see him back any time soon.

Thanks you fine sir . I am Canadian . I think maybe you mean because this sights American ? I am only looking for the springs and don’t see them on Dr distributor . I will reach out to. Thanks

Yup, that's what I meant. If you happen to be near my part of Canada (South-Central Ontario), 'Lindsay Used Tractors' had several Dextas sitting in their boneyard for some time. Not sure if they still do, as they did a big cleanup a year or so ago. But maybe worth a call to see what they'd sell you. If they have one, they'd want to sell you the whole dizzy. But might be a good option for you.

I heard Toronto recently experienced its biggest snowfall ever (just short of 2 feet for us metric illiterates). Were you hit bad by that?
Yuppers. It's not great and a lot of folks in dense, urban areas are still digging out and they'll be hauling out snow from the cities for some time. But certainly not as bad as some other storms: Because it was well-forecast and happened over many hours, it could be managed as it came (to some degree). And it was cold and dry enough that it was lighter, fluffy snow. If it was a little warmer it would have been heavier, wetter snow. And if we had that with stronger winds, it would have been bringing down more trees and power lines, and things would have been a lot worse.
