MT front end leaking oil

The front pedestal on my MT is leaking, I
see the seal is still available from Deere.
How hard of a job is it to replace? I'm
half tempted to just fill it with cornhead
grease. I only run a 15-20 hours a year.
What's everyone think? Thanks

If the leak is from the steering gear and gear box that isn't a horrible job. There are two seals in that box that need to be replaced. You will end up taking off all the front sheet metal and the steering shaft at least. On my MT it would not easily come apart and I ended up having to take off the steering column and jack up the front end to get all the weight off of it. Again, not horrible, but became a bigger project then I anticipated.

That being said my JD 40, which as almost the same steering gear box set up has cornhead grease in it.

What did you decide to do? I was almost to the point of removing the 1/4” NPT plugs and putting Grease Zerk Fittings and loading it up.
