MT Radiator Install Problems

I got a new radiator for my MT. I put it
in my tractor without issues until I go to
put on the front grill. The radiator neck
is about 1/2 below the top of the grill
opening. Can't put on the radiator cap.
What am I doing wrong?

While not familiar with the MT, Many tractors and other vehicles have some type of a rubber pad or bushing between the bottom of the tank and the mounting surface.
Is it possible they were not installed, or were much thinner than the originals?

Did you replace all four of the radiator cushions?

Take a look at the following photos.

If the neck is still short, then have a radiator shop install a longer neck.

Had that done once on a Model 70 radiator.

I am not positive on this and without looking up part numbers - is the M and MT radiator different?

Also I have been finding the parts listed to fit MT, 40T, 420T (one size fits many applications) - especially on ebay - actually do not have correct fitment for every model even though they work by cross referenced part number.

M and MT and all 40's use the same radiator, AM1771T. 420 is a different part, with 2 options being the length of the fill neck.. You probably got the wrong radiator.

Yeah, the part you bought has that number but is it actually correctly made to the specification of that part??? Best thing to do is pick a reference point, like the upper mounting hole and measure to top of tank and the top of fill neck. Compare to your old one. Remember too, there are not the brightest bulbs working in warehouse and a half inch difference in fill neck never registers. I got one eye that has wrong lens in it, Dr. says he ordered right spec part but it never fit right and vision is screwey in that eye. Yea, land of almost right strikes again. I can't see how you could mis-install radiator, James pix are great guide. Good luck, let me know how you make out. George
