MW 9 speed

I have an M&W 9 speed transmission on my farmall M and it has the newer disk brakes can anyone tell me if I can convert it to the old style band brakes it looking like it has the holes for the tin ones but has any one did it before ? Looking to lose weight and keep the farmstock look.

It will work, did it to mine. The hub on the band brake rotor is the same size outer diameter as the sleve on the disk brakes that slides on the bull pinion, so so as long as your seals are good you just swap parts. Those disk brakes are heavy.

The disks look heavy but you will loose a wopping 13 lbs and not have near the stopping power. That big drum that the band brakes ride on is big, cast, and heavy.

Try losing them four extra gears. That will take out way more weight than swapping brakes could ever hope to.
