Here is picture of my 8N with wheels painted, cleaned them all up wire wheeled them, primed painted, keep tires on, it was just easier for me, tires will be replaced shortly, the hood is next years project, notice the amount of room I have, not much. Sorry if it is sideways

RGR,Looks good ,are those original tires they look to be by the tread pattern, looks like they have a lot of tread left.If they are original I would say that your tractor has had little use.

Looks good and will help preserve the metal but OEM Ford Hat Rims were never painted. Zinc or cadmium plated. Not going to re-apply a zinc or cad finish now so I use a good special wheel paint by CASE/IH called 'Silver Argent'. It duplicates the OEM zinc/cad finish of the original. Many guys just use an aluminum or metallic shade of paint but that stuff will dull in a year or two. You can test by rubbing your thumb on it when dry and see how it will rub off easily. 8N and up center discs were painted FORD Medium Grey like the sheet metal as well as the front rims. I especially like your OEM Firestone repop Champion Spade Guide Grip 10 x 28 closed bar center rear tires and your early (48 or early 50) 6V Setup. The Firestone Spade Grips were only used on the '48 and '49 models.

Kinda late now, but if you paint the side walls with dawn dish soap and then paint the rims. After the paint dries use the hose to remove the soap.
Worked for me.

Sorry that the paint isn't perfect, I'm limited, but better than it was. The tires I figure are original, but unfortunately have to be replaced, there are big cracks in them, bigger than the Grand Canyon, I want to keep it 6 volt and as original as possible within my space and expertise, I'm having fun but the weather, she be a changing, and I will keep on posting with crazy stuff if everyone doesn't mind. Also hoping when all this craziness is over, if people in Michigan would mind a pop over in the future, would definitely like to see some of your N's.

Nice tractor. You mentioned keeping your 6 volt starting system. You can, just keep everything up to snuff and you will be fine. I have a '51 8N and let it set out one night, when moving snow. Next morning it was down to 5 degrees above zero. I thought to myself, this is one morning it probably won't do it. Went out and it fired right up. Made me proud of old Henry. Remember, good compression is the most important part of starting.
