My bro's 8N has hydro problems

Long story as short as I can make it...
My bro just got a job after almost 2 years of unemployment. His 8N runs fine but developed hydro problems. Normally he would wrench it himself, but with the new job and he needs snow removal, he took it to a "guy who knows Ford N tractors".

The guy rebuilt the hydro pump, R&R cylinder and piston w/naa setup. Worked fine at the shop, brought it home.

Week later, after minimal use (no abuse) the 3pt either....
...does not go up.
...when it does go up, it wont go down. Bro did not say how long it takes to leak down.
...has no position control. Its either full up or full down.
The guy comes gets it, now says cam follower pin is bad, but he can't find a cam follower pin. Its been 2 weeks, he still can't find a pin. I told my bro this guy is a joke, get it back and we'll fix it.

Im familiar w/a 2N. I know an 8N is different.
I plan to browse the archives for Zane's hydro tip sheet. I also plan to buy Zanes jig (anyone got his website handy-thanks). I know wher and how to look for squirts and leaks, but have not done so. Anything else that I should ask, but don't know what to ask?

I've got a Zane Thang that I bought but never did use. It comes with the cam follower pin. I'll work a deal for you if you're interested. Just e-mail me. Gene

Given your description of what the mechanic says he did and the fact it worked fine at the shop and for a few additional duties, it seems unlikely the cam pin suddenly became the issue. You might check the exhaust valve on the pump. It sounds like debris stirred up during the repair may have entered the pump chambers.

Kind of sounds like you may have a sticking control valve ???

Remove the right side inspection plate and when moving the touch control handle help the movement of the control rod that goes from top to bottom to the control valve/s.
