My First Ford Plow

This is the plow as photographed on my trailer afew days after I got home.

This is my first plow purchased for my Ford 3000 and while walking by it as it sat on the trailer I had to ask myself why the coulters were so far away plow points.

Anyway, I managed to swing in the last coulter towards the plow share where I believe it should be.

I am going to need a breaker bar for the first and second coulter adjustment nuts. (15/16")

Will post a photo later of the plow with the last coulter swung in.

That front coulter almost looks canted. Otherwise, they are adjusted to get the cleanest ground peel from your shin. The bottom will pull through the ground easier too.

That also all depends on soil type & conditions. Sometimes you don't even need them.

I noticed that too but compared to the rest of the plow the three coulter stems look to be where they should be.

I am using the crossbeam and the rest of plow frame as reference.

It's the moldboards that look off.

Car alignment terminology would call that negative camber.

Maybe someone with Ford plow experience can comment on if that is adjustable.

These a link to set up ford plows , every time I post it , it doesn’t come through.
The coulters on that are supposed to be about 1/2 to 3/4 inch from share as I recalled. They will will have furrowed walls collapsing in the furrow. Furrow should be a straight cut visible, with 1/8 inch showing about 2 inches above bottom of furrow when set. They are also axle of coulters are suppose be 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 above the point of each share . The shares have any more than 3/16 or 1/4 sled runners they will have to be corrected ,the plow won’t go int the ground. Not enough details in the the photo to advise .
Shanks of coulters are not perpendicular to the moldboards a mentioned , like the previous tractor vertical and horizontal hitch was way out of whack.
Try looking a n tractor club for details on setting up Ford plow s

You have a lot of plow there for a Ford 3000. Unless you have super light ground you are going to need some serious wieght on that 3000 if you plan on plowing sod especially.

Thanks, I already been told the plow is to big for my tractor and the hitch pins are also to big for me to even move it.

I never knew this when I bought the plow early in the summer.

I have another two bottom plow I intend on using.
